2009 FIRST Tech Challenge Events in Virginia

FIRST Tech Challenge 2008 011.jpg

This season for FTC brings many new changes and challenges. The program has been steadily growing in Virginia, starting with 29 teams in 2006 and  more than doubling to 61 teams by 2008. The kickoff started us off for the 2009-10 season on September 12th. Seventeen teams showed up for workshops, saw the video of the new challenge, and had a firsthand view of the field.

There will be a scrimmage November 21st in the new engineering building at VCU so that teams have a chance to try out the challenge with their robots and programming.

In December and January, qualifying events, dubbed "Q-vents", will be held around the state. Registration for these events is now open, but limited to teams  who are registered with FIRST. Ending the season will be the Regional Championship Tournament in Charlottesville on February 27th. Forty-eight teams will qualify to go to the regional event, with at least 2 of them earning their way to the World Championship in Atlanta  April 14-16, 2010.
