The FIRST Tech Challenge
Grades 9-12; Ages 14-18*
*May include 8th grade students 13 and older who are prepared to enter a high-school program

The FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a mid-level robotics competition for high school students. It offers the same traditional challenges of a FIRST Robotics competition, but is generally more affordable and accessible.
Teams of up to 10 students, with their teachers and mentors, build a small remote-controlled robot using a custom robotics platform created specifically for FIRST. During the season, teams document their progress and the process behind the creation and deployment of their robot. Teams compete for several awards in areas that include engineering, design excellence, competitive play and sportsmanship.
The 2009 Kickoff was on September 12--Learn about the new challenge!
Opportunities for involvement in this wonderful program include coaching/mentoring a team, funding a team, becoming a program sponsor, and volunteering.
